Let Us Help You With Your Plastic Piping Needs!
Plastic pipe is either a tubular section or hollow cylinder which is made of plastic. It is Normally of circular cross – section, used mainly to transport substances which can flow — liquids and gases (fluids), slurries, powders and masses of small solids. It can also be used for structural applications.
Plastic pipework is used for the conveyance of the following:
- cooling fluids
- drinking water
- waste water
- ultra-pure liquids
- compressed air
- heating fluid
- vacuum system applications
There are different types of pipes and the way to install it. For plastic pipe installation, you need to know its basic types. Furthermore, you can then decide which suits you best.
There are three basic types of plastic pipes:
Structured wall pipe
These are the products which have an enhanced design with regard to material usage to achieve the mechanical, physical and performance requirements. Structured Wall Pipes are made for the solutions of piping systems, for a range of applications and most of the time, established in cooperation with end – users.
Solid wall pipe
These are the extruded pipes that consist one layer of a homogeneous matrix of thermoplastic material which is ready for use in a pipeline.
Pipe integrating a flexible metallic layer as the middle of three bonded layers. Barrier pipe is used, to deliver additional protection for the contents passing through the pipe (particularly drinking water) from hostile chemicals or other pollution when laid in the ground which was previously contaminated.
Most plastic pipe systems are made from thermoplastic materials. They normally have the custom plastic pipe installer which makes the typical plastic pipe. The fabrication method involves melting the material, shaping and then cooling. They are typically manufactured by extrusion.
Aquatherm is a known brand for plastic piping that greatly assists the industrial plastic pipe contractors in doing the works. They are famous for being one of the best plastic piping supplier there is in the market.
Plastic piping has many uses that include the following sectors in the industry:
- Food and Beverage
Why Choose Plastic Piping?
There are a lot of reasons to choose plastic piping than anything else available in the market. It offers multiple benefits for you. Here are some of the reasons why:
Plastics are immune to galvanic or electrolytic erosion. Due to this, plastic pipe can be buried in acidic, alkaline, wet or dry soils and protective coatings are not required.
A significant benefit of plastic pipe is its small ecological impact compared to other materials.
The selection of materials available allows a wide array of chemical solutions to be handled successfully by plastic piping.
Low Thermal Conductivity
This feature conserves more uniform temperatures when transporting fluids in plastic than in metal piping. The short current conductivity of the wall of plastic piping may eradicate or reduce greatly the need for pipelines. This is to control sweating.
In general, thermoplastic piping is relatively flexible as compared to metal piping. This facilitates the use of efficient installation techniques. Water mains and sewers made of plastic piping can be deflected to match the curve alignment of streets and rights-of-way.
Variety of Joining Methods
Plastic piping can be joined by several means. For each material, there are several appropriate methods. The most known techniques are heat fusion, flanges, O-rings, rolled grooves solvent cementing, threaded joints and mechanical compression joints. This variety of joining methods allows plastic piping to be adapted easily to most field conditions.
Low Friction Loss
Due to its generally very smooth interior surface, reduced power may be required to convey fluids in plastic piping compared with other piping systems. Furthermore, the excellent corrosion resistance of plastics means that the low friction loss characteristic will not change over time.
Long Term Performance
Owing to the relative chemical inertness and the minimal effects of internal and external corrosion, there is very little change in the physical characteristics of plastic piping over dozens of years.
Plastic piping systems are on the order of one-sixth the weight of steel piping, most of them. This feature means cheaper costs in many ways
Plastic piping systems have been approved for potable water applications. As a sign of this all plastic drinking water piping materials and products, they are all tested and listed for passivity to ANSI/NSF Standards 14 and 61.
Up until now, there are no documented reports on any fungi, bacteria, or termite attacks on any plastic piping system. Furthermore, because of its motionlessness, plastic piping is the preferred material in deionized and other high-purity water applications.
Plastic piping materials provide excellent service in handling slurries such as fly ash, bottom ash, and other abrasive solutions. The material durability and the smooth inner bore of plastic piping make it best for applications where abrasion resistance is needed.
Plastic piping is available in a range of colors for easy identification. The following are generally used colors for different applications:
Fire Sprinklers (Orange)
Cable Duct (Variety of colors)
DWV (Black, white, tan, or gray)
Sewers (Green, white, black, or gray)
Industrial Process (Dark Gray/PVC, light gray/CPVC)
Water Distribution (Black, light blue, white, clear, or gray)
Hot and Cold Water Distribution (Tan, red, white, blue, silver, or clear)
Reclaimed Water (Purple or brown local jurisdiction may set requirements)
Gas Distribution (Formerly bright orange or tan; now yellow or black with yellow stripes)
The piping surfaces both in and out are not prone to galvanic oxidization or electrolysis. In submerged uses, the plastic piping is not commonly affected by chemically hostile soil. However, connection in soils contaminated with hydrocarbons (gas, oil, etc.) should be avoided.
